The Emperor Machine Artwork

I bookmakred this site a while ago, all of the artwork for DC Recordings seemed to be brilliant but inparticularly the Emperor Machine artwork was by far my favourite and most relevant to my current work with The Portlands looking at using only black ink. It keeps the design simple and graphic/iconic whilst remaining cheap to produce on most materials.

I also liked the visual illusion on the Kelp artwork and felt like it was similar to The Portlands artwork I created with the symmetry of the waves.

Gig Posters Dot Com!

I have just stumbled upon this great site which is a fantastic resource full of album artwork and tour posters along with typography posters.

I have been looking at a lot of tour posters lately as they have interested me for years and I have been dying to get the chance to work on some. I have selected a few posters I found which reflect my ideas for my own designs. These first few are greyscale prints with little information on for individual concerts similar to mine. I have selected the others for their good use of typography or vector imagery.

Decorative Type & Album Art

I have been considering options for the continuing development of The Portlands. I plan on developing them another album cover, a progression from the last, something faster, more elaborate, more noise. Same amount of money and ink though sadly which means it's going to have to be a cheap job.

I have been considering creating and photographing a 3D set to substantially move on from the vector illustrations of the last cover although photographs may not work very well when printed. Just a few things to think about when I get stuck in to the brief. These bits and pieces from http://www.pabloalfieri.com/ got me excited.

Dalek Album Artwork

Album artwork from Dalek. Some really nice varied work, all sorts of typography. I am becoming quite interested in album artwork and band promotion and I would love to keep developing my skills in this area.

I am about to begin a brief for The Portlands, a band I have done work for in the pest few months. I am going to be producing album artwork and a tour poster so this is just the beginning of a more in depth study of album artwork and tour posters.
